University violence, redux

News report:

Students of Burdwan University were staging a demonstration, when Trinamool Congress workers’ union members allegedly barged into the university campus and started beating up students to disperse them. Members, sporting wooden sticks did not spare female students and they suffered serious injuries. Workers’ union members allegedly went on a rampage and ransacked the university campus.

When students tried to resist the attackers, more members were brought in and threatened them with dire consequences. But, some students managed to catch hold of the attackers, however, they fled later.

Precisely why I suggested, in an earlier post, that the students of JNU — and the other universities protesting alongside them — should keep politicians at arm’s length. They are all equally condemnable.
